Force of Good

Keys to A Chicago Bears Super Bowl Victory

Feb 02, 2007

Run Baby Run

The Bears need to run the ball 20 times in the first half. Why?

The Colts front seven defenders average only 256 pounds. They are built for speed, not strength. The Bears offensive line is built on power, not speed. Indy may get worn out facing the power blocking from a Bears line that averages 305 pounds. Wear them out and the Bears may be able to get more than the 173 yards (last in the league) the Colts gave up rushing over the regular season.

Then again, the Colts have knocked this average down to only 73 during the playoffs. Part of this is due to the return of Bob Sanders who is questionable for Sunday.

Keep an early eye on the Bears rushing yards per play.

More Patience then Peyton

The Bears cannot win if the game comes down to Peyton Manning making plays. Its OK if Peyton makes little plays. He just cannot make big plays. When Peyton is reduced to little plays he gets frustrated. When he gets frustrated he makes mistakes. The Bears cover 2 pass defense is very patient. If it is more patient than Payton he will get frustrated and make mistakes. Look for Vasher to jump a route ala the Pats Asante Samuel.

Hester the Molester

Devin Hestor has to be good for seven. He is the most explosive kick returner in the league. And the Colts kick coverage team just blows. They had big trouble stopping Ellis Hobbs of New England. Hester, the special teams Pro-Blower is much, much better. He can take it to the house every time he catches the ball and ensure that the Bears when the battle for field position.

Average Rex

Enough has been said about Rex the past two weeks. To be honest the guy scares me. And not in a good way. But, all he needs to do is be average. Average for him is 30 passes, 16 completions, 1 touchdown, a 74 passing rating.

The Battle of the Audible

Can Urlacher outsmart Peyton? Peyton is going to audible based on what the defense shows him. Urlacher is going to change the defense based on the formation change Peyton calls. What happens before the play may be more intriguing than what happens during play. Urlacher has been criticized by Dick Butkus about not being aggressive enough. Urlacher says he needs to keep his cool to think. He needs to outthink Peyton.

If all this happens the points allowed averages hold.

Bears win 23 - 17.
