Entreprenuer Rodeos

The title is a tribute to being named a member of the "Atlanta Startup Posse" by Jeff Haynie.  If you are an entrepreneur there are a couple of round ups that you might be interested in.

Last week Sanjay Parekh announced Startup Riot.  It's a pitch event focused on getting entrepreneurs in front of potential employees, customers, and investors.  Sounds like a lot of fun so jump on your horse and sign up.

I also got a little pony express delivery from my dear friend Andrew Hyde encouraging me to encourage you to go West young man.  Apply to TechStars.  Since there are no cool summer programs in the Southeast you might as well go enjoy the mountains.  Tell David I sent you.

Giddy up!

"there are no cool summer programs in the Southeast"

Why not?

Seems like something the ATDC is perfectly poised to host.

And that's another thing. It seems that when looking to host some kind of tech-startup related event, the "automatic" choice is the ATDC. After them, there's really not much support in the area.

Erik:

The big part of the "why not" seems to be the interest in funding these types of activities. TechStars offers the companies that join $15k in seed funding. About $150k in total. If we could get a local VC or angel group to play lead with coming up with this kinda cash I think we could pull off the space and programming needs.

I think this is a great idea, and we should have an event like this in the south.

Is anyone going to apply to this? I want to but i am looking for a better half currently before i apply. I need a rock star developer. The programing has been done in Perl, till now but in the future will be done in something more advanced. If anyone knows anyone that would want to jump on board let me know. msweezey@mechanixloop.com
