This is the second in a series pulling content off my first web presence. A personal list from 1999. Can not believe The Lord of the Rings did not make the cut. It bumps nine or ten off the list today. Will have to gave that some thought.
BOOKS
A top ten list.
The Grapes Of Wrath
To Kill A Mockingbird
The Dancing Wu Li Masters
A Confederacy Of Dunces
The Fountainhead
Skinny Legs & All
In Cold Blood
The Hobbit
Bright Lights, Big City
The Bonfire Of The Vanities
Comments
This is a great list. I do appreciate Cold Blood being in there. However, Grapes of Wrath ranked number 1? It is a great book, but I think John Steinbeck's magnum opus is East of Eden.
Said Steinbeck of East of Eden: “It has everything in it I have been able to learn about my craft or profession in all these years...I think everything else I have written has been, in a sense, practice for this.”
I couldn't agree more; East of Eden is on my top five list of books (and I've read a lot of classics). Have you read it? If not, I will say that it is a must-read.
